Yusuf Pathan, a former Indian cricket superstar, was born on November 17, 1982, in Baroda, Gujarat, to a Gujrati Pathan family. He has a younger brother, Irfan Pathan, who is also a member of the Indian National Cricket Team.

Yusuf Pathan made his debut in cricket in 2001 and retired from the sport in February of 2021. Following his strong performances in the 2007 Deodhar Trophy and the Inter-state domestic Twenty20 tournament in April 2007, Pathan was named to the Indian team for the inaugural Twenty20 World Championship, held in South Africa in September 2007. He made his T20 international debut in the final against Pakistan.

Yusuf made his One Day International debut for India against Pakistan in Dhaka on June 10, 2008. He has been a member of the national One-Day International team on several occasions. His outstanding performance throughout the domestic season in 2007-2008 landed him a 1.9 crore contract with Rajasthan Royals. He went on to make the quickest half-century in the 2008 IPL, accumulating 458 runs and taking 8 wickets.

Yusuf Pathan, who was playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2013 against the Pune Warriors India, became the first hitter in Twenty20 cricket to be sent out for obstructing the field. On May 24, 2014, Yusuf recorded the second-fastest 50 in IPL history in just 15 balls. As a result, Kolkata Knight Riders finished second in the league and were crowned champions for the season.

Because of their charitable commitment to society, the Pathan brothers were in the spotlight during the pandemic outbreak. He and his brother provided face masks and shields, as well as raising awareness about safety precautions. Yusuf is passionate about doing good in the world, and as a result, he has been a supporter of 'YAIF,' whose purpose is 'Youth Against Rape.'

Yusuf later married Mumbai Based physiotherapist, Afreen, who gave birth to his son on 17 April 2014.
